The Opah Store Beeswax Bread Bags are handcrafted from durable 12oz cotton canvas, dyed with plants and finished with beeswax by us in our Sussex Studio.
Generously sized to hold a large sourdough or several smaller loaves, these bags help keep bread fresh while preserving its crisp crust. Designed for repeated use and fully compostable at the end of their life.
Our bread bags are coloured using natural plant dyes, offering a beautiful alternative to synthetic dyes. Derived from renewable botanical sources, plant dyes have a lower environmental impact, are biodegradable, and celebrate the unique variations found in nature. Each bag carries its own subtle character, making every piece one of a kind.
Care: Give your bread bag a good shake every so often to remove any crumbs. When it needs cleaning, turn it inside out and gently wash it in cool, soapy water. Leave it to air dry inside out, then turn it the right way round and refold. Avoid using hot water, as it can melt the wax coating.

‘Made in a *Bedroom’ by Jakob Icke, continues his graduate project, which used the apparatus of ‘tactical play’ to explore the personal economies and anxieties of being a designer in London. The “bedroom” has outgrown its definition as a physical space. Instead, it describes a condition, a methodology, and a moment within the practice, a way of navigating the uncertainties of life after graduation, while continuing to make, create, and design within the constraints of the “real” world.
